Job Description

Full Time/12 Months

6:00 am- 2:30 pm Monday-Friday

Duties:

• Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of electrical equipment, fixtures, and wiring.
• Installs and repairs roofing and siding, performing related mechanical work as needed.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools to perform construction, maintenance, and repair tasks.
• Inspects, repairs, and adjusts machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Performs maintenance and repairs on automotive and related equipment.
• Maintains tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

Job Qualifications

Must satisfy Nassau County Civil Service Requirements Including:

• Knowledge of construction and maintenance methods, materials, and equipment used in a variety of skilled trades.
• Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in a variety of trades.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks.
• Ability to direct personnel assigned to assist in performing maintenance tasks.
• Physical strength and agility.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
• Graduation from a vocational or trade school and one year of experience in performing general or specialized maintenance and repair tasks in buildings, and on various types of machinery, equipment, furniture and tools*.

*Or Three years of satisfactory experience as outlined above.
